About Us

What is Friends of Adventure?

Friends of Adventure grew out of the need for several people qualified in outdoor training to maintain their skills. These instructors wanted an easy way to keep their log books current and to demonstrate ongoing experience. This keeps their skills honed at the highest level.

So what began as a casual invitation to friends to “have a go” at abseiling, caving etc has grown into the friendly group we have today.

How It Works In A Nutshell

Adventures are run in the form of 1 to 4 day adventure sessions. This might involve actual camping in tents or pleasant low cost accommodation. Events are mostly held around the Perth and Margaret River regions of Western Australia. We often use Glenbrook Estate in Margaret River as our accommodation.

Details about what to bring, food etc vary depending on the event and get posted when we announce the next adventure.

Why Our Adventures Don’t Cost Much

Camps are organised by highly qualified instructors that already have day jobs. They all share a love for the outdoors and helping people to transform their lives. It may be overcoming a fear of heights or discovering a desire to get fitter.

Trainers volunteer their time as a way of giving back to the community and maintaining their skills. The only costs to participants are to cover wear and tear on equipment, accommodation and DEC site fees. The biggest cost is your time.

Commercial Bookings

In fairness to operators who make their livelihood from abseiling and other activities we do not take commercial bookings. If you want to organise groups of your own such as for corporate team building etc you can still contact us. However, these events will be run officially through our connections with Fairbridge Outdoor Recreation Department in Pinjarra.

This is what some past adventure friends have had to say:

Busselton Proteas would like to send a huge thank you to Sarah and Markus from Friends of Adventure for a fantastic day of Abseiling at Wilyabrup Cliffs last Saturday 27th october 2012:)
Friends of Adventure gave my husband and I and all our staff an opportunity to share our abseiling experience together.
What a fantastic organisation! One that is driven by enthusiasm of life and its adventures, not money…..
Your professionalism and ease of handling 27 of us aged between 13 – 60 whom had never abseiled before and with a few height issues was impeccable.
What a great thing that whilst we were learning, your trainees were learning as well 🙂 and what a great job they did.
Everybody has continued to comment on how safe and relaxed they felt with the whole experience.
Thank you Friends Of Adventure 🙂

– Tammy
