Dear Fellow Adventurers,

The weather is finally starting to come good and that means more adventuring days on the horizon. We’ve got a few fun activities coming up that you might be interested in.

Our next event is less than a month away. Sarah from Friends of Adventure and Brett from Fairbridge Outdoor Recreation Department have teamed up to plan a two day canoe/kayak trip on the Blackwood River in the Margaret River region starting on Friday October 12th and finishing Sunday October 14th. We’ll meet on Friday afternoon and stay at the hall at Glenbrook Cottages in Margaret River on Friday night. We will then spend the Saturday and Sunday paddling the Blackwood, returning to Glenbrook to sleep on the Saturday night. This activity is a recreational paddle for all experience levels. It can also be used as Professional Development if you are training with us or Fairbridge to get some canoeing or kayaking Units of Competency.

You have the option of paddling one of Fairbridge’s double canoes or a single or double sit-on-top kayak. One of the single kayaks is pictured above in the Friends of Adventure banner. We provide the paddle craft, padles and PFD’s for this event. You will need to bring your own paddling clothes and closed in shoes that you can wear paddling. If you have your own paddle craft you wish to bring you are welcome to use it, but be aware that Brett and Sarah will inspect your gear before use to ensure that it is appropriate for the activity.

If you are interested in attending this event you need to contact Friends of Adventure by email or fill out the Contact Us form on the Friends of Adventure website by the end of September so we can start organising how much gear we need to take. Once we have confirmed numbers we will send out more information one how the weekend will run and an equiment list of what you will need to bring.

We are now taking bookings for our most popular annual event: the Margaret River Adventure and Dance Camp. This year’s camp will run from January 3rd to January 7th, 2013. For those of you that haven’t attended one of our Adventure Dance Camps in the past, the days are filled with a variety of adventure activities in the Margaret River region and the nights are filled with social dancing run by Markus, our Friends of Adventure Swing Dance specialist. The camp package includes accommodation at Glenbrook Cottages in Margaret River and all meals. For more detail see the attached information sheet or check out the Friends of Adventure website. There are also photos of previous camps on the website.

If you are interested in attending the camp fill out the Booking Form on the Friends of Adventure website and we will get in touch with you regarding payment options. We try to limit the number of camp attendees to maximise the fun, so make sure you book to secure your place!
