Newletter Issue 8

Dear Fellow Adventurers,

Well, what a fun-packed Easter Friends of Adventure had this year! We ran our annual Friends of Adventure Easter Camp down at Margaret River and had our biggest group yet. 22 people joined Markus and I and camped at Glenbrook Cottages over the long weekend, packing in some great adventure activities over the 3 days. Fantastic weather and a really enthusiastic and friendly group of people made this our most memorable camp to date.

Follow this link to read about our adventures and see some great photos of our exploits.

During our Easter Camp our webmaster Nik launched FoA TV, which will become our new YouTube channel. Nik filmed us as we delved into the adventure section of Calgardup Cave, a section of the tourist cave that you can only venture into with a registered cave guide. Our group had the opportunity to explore the “Poo Chute”, a very narrow tunnel that you have to wriggle your way through that eventually pops you out into a small cavern. Click here to see our new FoA TV videos of our group experiencing the Poo Chute.

FoA’s caving adventures are only just getting started. In the 3rd week of May we are planning a Caving camp down in Margaret River. We will camp at Glenbrook again and spend Saturday May 25th and Sunday May 26th exploring a variety of caves that are not on the tourist maps. Some will be caves that you have to crawl into and some will be caves that you can only get into by abseiling. These caves have number restrictions as part of DEC’s minimal impact rules which means we can only take 7 people with us on this camp. If you are interested in attending please let me know as soon as possible by replying to this email or filling out the Contact Us form on the FoA website. If we get lots of interest we may look at splitting the camp into two groups and taking one group caving on the Saturday and the other group on the Sunday. Let us know quickly if you intend to come as spaces will fill up fast.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Yours in Adventuring,

Sarah Beahan
